Health, Safety, Security and Environment

IndianOil Adani Ventures Ltd (IAVL) has established an Occupational Health Safety & Environment (OHS&E) policy which is applicable for all its locations and Operations. HSE is integral part of our business and we aim for exemplary HSE performance. We are committed to managing our operations and ensuring asset integrity in a responsible and sustainable manner. We aim to safeguard the people who work with us and the communities we operate in, through effective application of our HSE management systems and compliance to all applicable laws and regulations.

Our effort has been recognized in the form of awards and accolades by many reputed organizations and safety forums.

Health and safety are the core focus areas of our sustainability framework, and we aim to achieve our Goal of “Zero Harm”. We believe that safety culture should be embedded in Hearts & Minds of every stakeholder. At IAV we work closely with our contractors to build a strong safety culture at the frontline, leading to improved safety performance

Employees are encouraged to recognize and act upon hazardous work conditions posing a threat to themselves or to their co-workers. IAVL has also implemented a process for recognizing and rewarding safe behavior practices and appropriately addressing unsafe behavior practices.
This program is designed to transform HSE culture by focusing on four pillars:  Infrastructure, Systems & Processes, Competency, and Behaviors. In Sanskrit, Raksha means “Protection”. Project Raksha is designed to improve Line Ownership in Safety by dividing the terminals into multiple zones, each led by a ‘safety champion’ managing a diverse team of management, staff, and contract workers responsible for ensuring safe operations within their Zones.

Each Zone has KPIs on, Management Safety walks, UNAC identification & rectification, work permit audit and review, training etc. The Raksha program has helped us reduce the risk of operations, and improve and sustain our HSE culture with the involvement of all.

In line with our goal and commitment to reduce our impact on the environment, we undertake several measures to reduce emissions conserve energy by use of technology and focus on asset integrity. We are also actively promoting use of solar energy wherever feasible. Transition to clean energy is our go-to-strategy to minimize our environmental impact and pave the road towards low carbon future and contribute positively towards our Climate Change commitment

UN Sustainable Development goal is about access to clean water and sanitation for all. Using water as efficiently as possible has been our endeavor. We are continuing our efforts to conserve fresh water by reducing consumption and increasing water reuse and recycling.

We also remain deeply committed to the cause of environmental protection, and have rainwater harvesting program at our terminals.

HSE Audit Program

The internal HSSE audit program is an on-going review of our operations to ensure personnel safety and environmental protection. Audits enable us to identify risk, determine the degree of implementation and effectiveness of the HSSE Management System, and evaluate compliance with applicable regulations. Different types of Audits are also conducted through third parties on need basis to meet regulatory compliance.
